Welcome to the Ancient Lakes Elementary learning community!
Our school is located in a historic building that previously housed the original Quincy High School and Quincy Junior High. With community member and school staff input, the NAC architecture group designed a completely modernized facility that still preserved the historic exterior of this landmark building.
After an extensive renovation project was completed, Ancient Lakes opened as new elementary school in the fall of 2019. In fall of 2020, we celebrated the installation of a beautiful artwork series by artist Susan Aurand, called Water Gifts. The artwork consists of a shadow box portrayal of Ancient Lake native plants and wildlife in our foyer as well as a series of multi-dimensional wall mounted pieces in our library that show the importance of water over time in our community. We hope you will come visit and see this beautiful place that we get to learn and work together in. We are extremely thankful to the taxpayers in our community who supported the construction bond levy that funded the beautiful renovation and reconstruction of our school.
At Ancient Lakes, we encourage the development of the whole child. Our staff will partner with parents to help students grow in academics, behavior, and social skills. We encourage family participation and plan to offer many evening family night activities throughout the year. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be assigned one homeroom classroom teacher that will cover their English language arts, math, social studies, science, social skills, and behavior instruction. All students will visit specialist teachers for forty five minutes of additional instruction each day. During a week of instruction, they will get two physical education classes, two music classes, and one library class. In addition, every two weeks they will get one enrichment class focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) connected activities.
We look forward to serving the students and families in our neighborhood and encourage open communication with our patrons. Please call our office if you have questions or concerns at any time.
Sincerely,
Whitney Gregg
